CBBC plays an important role in helping shape bilateral relations between the UK and China through our close links to the UK government and the devolved administrations; the Chinese government at the national, provincial, and municipal levels; and the British and Chinese embassies.
What are we looking for:
We are seeking a confident, energetic team player with fundamental events arrangement experience and excellent communications skills. The role will entail managing a varied and large number of events designed to promote the development of UK-China trade and to continuously grow and bolster CBBC’s core offering of helping UK companies develop a deeper understanding of and connection with China. The jobholder will report to Assistant Director, Events in CBBC Beijing office.
This is a short - term position lasting 6 - 7 months, starting from June 2025. It is intended to cover the maternity leave of a staff member at CBBC Beijing.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, budgeting, execution of events and marketing the opportunities to reach the target audience. You will also work with the colleagues from across the team to ensure the events programme is organised and developed effectively. Specific responsibilities include:
61 Responsible for events logistic works, including but not limited to arrangement of venue selection and set-up, transportation, catering, *** equipment, onsite event support during events
61 Draft and manage hard-cost quotation, and payments to external suppliers
61 Managing high profiled events, dealing effectively with and meeting the expectations of different stakeholders and partners
61 Organising seminars, receptions and other events on behalf of a variety of UK based clients and delivering them within an agreed budget
61 The promotion of events services offered by CBBC, acquisition of new clients and servicing and care of existing client relationships. Understanding customer requirements and managing customer relationships
61 Proactively building on CBBC’s database to reach out to more British and Chinese companies actively developing trade together
61 Provide support to membership team, keep the CRM system up to date
61 Attend meetings with members and stakeholders and taking meeting notes
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be energetic, highly motivated, IT literate, an excellent organiser and communicator, an active listener and a team player with a proven ability to work independently. Specific requirements for the role are as follows:
61 Bachelor degree or above
61 Excellent language skills in English and Mandarin (written and oral)
61 Relevant working experience in Events
61 Basic events management skills, providing careful attention to details
61 Demonstrable understanding of UK-China business issues
61 Excellent team work and communication to deliver an active annual events programme.
61 Client facing skills is requested
61 Have an understanding of budgeting
61 A flexible and entrepreneurial style and a quick learner
61 Skilled use of computer software: word, excel, ppt…
