It has a capacity for 750 pupils from 2 to 18 years of age. It is situated within the high quality residential and educational area of Gubei/Hongqiao.

The Britannica curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum enhanced to meet the needs of the expatriate population. Essentially this means that in addition to the core curriculum, there is the opportunity for the pupils to study Mandarin and to learn about the Culture, History and Geography of China, and to study other modern languages. Pupils are prepared for the Cambridge University International General Certificate of Secondary Education and the International Baccalaureate Examinations leading to British and international university entrance.
