The Information Systems & Operations Management area at School of Management and Economics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen now has multiple openings for the research associate position. The position is a full-time job and is officially supported by the school.
Currently, the ISOM area at CUHK-Shenzhen has 22 world-class faculty members with over 80 top (UTD24) publications. This position is a perfect preparation for applicants who want to apply for b-school PhD programs. In the past three years, six of our research associates joined the PhD programs of HKUST, McGill, NYU, SMU, UGA, and WashU. Applicants with an interest in teaching careers are also strongly welcome.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Providing research assistance to professors, including collecting data, analyzing data, and building mathematical models in the area of information systems/operations management/business analytics;
2. Replicating research papers assigned by the supervisor;
3. Assisting in tutorials for undergraduate courses;
4. Preparation of teaching materials/classes;
5. Student consultation/supervision and coordinating student academic activities;
6. Providing support for research grant applications and academic activities, such as forums, conferences, lectures, symposiums, etc.;
7. Undertaking other assignments assigned by the supervisor.
The job will provide employees with decent training in research and teaching. In general, we expect half work related to research assistance and half related to teaching assistance. Employees will have the opportunity to work closely with our world-class faculty members and build academic connections.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. A bachelor’s or higher degree in information systems, operations management, economics, statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, or any other related field;
2. Good communication skills;
3. Fluent English, both written and spoken;
4. The ability to work independently, as well as the spirit of teamwork;
5. Preferably the knowledge of econometrics, optimization, game theory, mathematical modeling, data mining, and/or Python and R programming.

The establishment of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen [CUHK(SZ)] is an initiative to take this further by extending the CUHK core educational philosophy and values beyond Hong Kong, in order to contribute to higher education across the nation and to groom future generations of university graduates who are international in outlook, learned in the disciplines they follow, upright character, and committed to serving the needs of society. It is an endeavour that will have a profound impact on the training of top talents and on the educational reform in China, and to contribute to the long-term prosperity of Shenzhen, Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region.
CUHK(SZ) was set up with staunch support from the Shenzhen Municipal Government, and with the participation of Shenzhen University as collaborative partner, as required by the State Regulations for Sino-foreign Co-operation in Running Schools.
CUHK Degrees will be conferred on CUHK(SZ) students who have fulfilled the requirements of the respective academic programmes. In addition, Graduation Certificates will also be awarded to students who have completed their studies and met the graduation requirements stipulated by the State Ministry of Education.
