Duties and responsibilities
- Support for the circulation of library materials (issue, return, renewal and reservation)
- Assistant in generating reports and overdue notices from the library management and circulation system
- Re-shelve books and other resources and generally keep the Library tidy
- Shelf read (make sure all resources are shelved in the right place) the collection on a regular basis, according to a schedule designed in collaboration with the Librarian
- Assist the Librarian with selection and organisation of resources.
- Process resources, by adding stamps, spine labels and other stickers and covering them in contact paper as directed by the Librarian
- Identify and repair books as and when necessary, or submit for renewal with the Librarian.
- Assist with displays and events of the Library
- Assist staff and student in accessing library resources
- Enforce library rules and standards of behaviour
- Undertake any reasonable request made by the line manager that ensures consistent delivery of service in the School.
Minimum qualifications and experience required
- Good English skills
- Good attitude to work, sense of initiative and strong responsibility, trustworthy
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- A desire to help others and provide assistance
- Enjoy working with children of all ages and other adults, including foreigners
- Knowledge of areas of teaching, pastoral care and co-curricular activities
- A background in IT, preferably in a library setting. Experience with Follett Destiny would be ideal.
- Experience of working with students in a school environment is desirable
- Teaching Qualification preferred
