Quality Technician/Technical Manager –– Outdoor and indoor furniture
We are looking for a Quality Technician/Technical Manager – this includes outdoor garden furniture, indoor upholstery (sofa, occasional chair) and dining furniture (dining chair, barstool).
Primary Responsibilities
1. Technically proficient in manufacturing processes in all hard goods, including outdoor garden furniture, KD, construction and painting techniques.
2. Able to develop product from a brief and engage with the vendors and factories to ensure build quality *** time right.
3. Ensure development of the product offers lowest cost base to add value whilst remaining safe and reliable.
4. Expert in supply chain and factory processes including construction, painting, and packaging presentation.
5. Conduct and manage the sealing process of the product which includes red seal, drop test and gold seal.
6. Maintain colour standards and check product to ensure consistency.
7. Conduct pre shipment inspections at peak trading.
8. Knowledge of testing requirements and British Standards
9. Workbook- write up all reports on the product following factory visit making observations and suggestions.
10. Conduct PSI to set formats and use pre-set quality criteria
11. Communicate directly with head office on all aspects of the product, written, verbal and on video calls.
12. Offer options on product development and current range on sustainable materials and processes.
13. Check product assembly steps match AI (Assembly instructions) and make recommendations and suggestions for ease of assembly.
14. Understand defect analysis and customer returns analysis and offer corrective action plan to reduce and remove faults.
15. Undertake projects and make presentations on the product.
Main Requirements
a. Minimum 5 years in the industry with 3 years as a quality technician- product developer
b. Worked with large retailers as an agent or from a buying office.
c. Fluent in written and verbal English
d. Skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook email
e. Degree in related business area – timber, engineering, or related subject
f. Excellent team player and coordinate with merchandising and compliance teams.
g. Able to travel throughout the week and work in factories for most of the time.
h. Competent in using Auto CAD and similar software.
