Roles & Responsibilities:
1.Develop an understanding of the equipment used in IoT laboratories giving a decision-making capability with regard to its installation and maintenance;
2.Work closely with the University Health and Safety Office, the Campus Management Office, the Management Information Technology and System Office, and audit bodies to identify and raise awareness of health and safety hazards in the IoT laboratories and ensure laboratories to meet the safety standards at all aspects;
3.Develop and maintain instruction manual and technical/operational standards;
4.Assist with the specification, procurement, installation and care /maintenance of IoT laboratory equipment;
5.Prepare and standardize solutions and other IoT laboratory materials;
6.Organize and maintain stockrooms, and ensure the storage of any laboratory supplies;
7.Maintain accurate records of open accounts and budget information;
8.Provide training and supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students and postdoctoral research staff in the use of equipment and control systems;
9.Assist and advise with the specification, procurement and installation of appropriate equipment for the future development of the IoT laboratories.
10.Assist with academic staffs to guide students in undergraduate research project development.
11.Communicate with industry partners of IoT to oversee their requirements for the collaborative activities.
12.Perform any other worked related tasks assigned by the school superior leaders and the Dean of IoT.
Qualifications:
1.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Big Data, Engineering, or a relevant field to support undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory teaching and research projects.
2.Familiar with specific applications in the field of Internet of Things, such as smart homes, smart healthcare, RFID, and AR/VR devices.
3.Familiar with C++, Programming languages such as Java, Python, MATLAB, etc.
4.Excellent written and spoken skills in Chinese and English.
5.Excellent organizational skills, good teamwork and interpersonal communication abilities.
6.Independent and proactive in implementing the daily duties.
7.Good understanding and skills in inter-cultural communications. Can adapt to an all English office environment
8.Previous experience as a technician in a higher education context or similar.
Required Competencies and Skills:
Under the general supervision of the School Technical Manager and the Dean of IoT, the position holder provides technical support for :
1) multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching and research activities;
2) research-led and practice-driven teaching across the academic portfolio in the School;
3) domestic and international collaboration research projects.
The role is based in XJTLU Taicang Campus , and is expected to work closely with academic staff across the University, the Health and Safety Office, the Management Information Technology and System Office, the Campus Management Office, and industry partners. The post holder is a member of the school of IoT, has a direct reporting line to the Lab Technical Management Office and the school of IoT. The successful applicant would be proactive, reflective, and committed to on-time delivery, with a high level of professional ethics.
