This position is responsible for leveraging best-in-class Planarization Laboratory capabilities and practices for research and development (R&D) at the Electronics Technology Center China (ETCC). Initially, the focus will be on the R&D of Planarization modules within ETCC. The individual will collaborate with the marketing, sales, and technical service teams to develop new products for customers, prioritizing safety, quality, and efficiency.
The incumbent will engage in formulating and associated fingerprint activities to guarantee safety and quality. They are expected to be a strong advocate for a safety-*** culture. This role will involve building and ensuring alignment with both internal and global teams on R&D initiatives.
Nature and Scope:
The position will be in Shanghai and will report directly to the Head of Application Technology at the ETCC, Semiconductor Materials Business Unit in China. The individual will be responsible for all R&D activities and fingerprint initiatives in the Planarization Laboratory of ETCC, ensuring safe execution, innovative product development, and prompt responses to customer needs in China.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Research and Analysis: Conducting thorough research to understand chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) trends, customer needs, and technological advancements for CMP product development.
2. Innovation: Identifying opportunities for innovation in CMP product design and development and proposing new concepts and solutions.
3. Product Development: Designing, developing, and testing new CMP products or improving existing products to meet specifications and performance criteria.
4. Testing and Validation: Planning and executing experiments to validate product performance, safety, and quality standards, and analyzing results to make informed decisions.
5. Continuous Improvement: Implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in R&D processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
6. Project Management: Managing R&D projects, including setting timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful project completion.
7. Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, technical services, and manufacturing, to ensure alignment on product requirements and timelines.
8. Documentation: Maintaining detailed documentation of research findings, materials design, optimized processes, and testing results to support product development and regulatory compliance.
9. Compliance and Safety: Ensuring that all research and development activities comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.
10. Technical Support: Providing technical support and expertise to other teams and stakeholders, including troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to product performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Educational Background: A Ph.D. or master’s degree in engineering or science, such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, or material.
2. Creativity and Innovation: Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to complex R&D activities.
3. Knowledge of Industry Standards: Familiarity with relevant CMP slurries and their formulation design.
4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in CMP principles, materials for CMP slurries, and laboratory techniques; familiarity with data analysis tools and statistical methods.
5. Experience: Relevant work experience in R&D, CMP product development, or a related field; cooperation experience may also be beneficial.
6. Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
7. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in research, testing, and documentation.
8. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
9. Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring, with the ability to meet deadlines.
10. Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated on technological advancements and industry trends to enhance skills and knowledge.
