Job Description
As a Inventory Management Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will work to develop and manage our inventory business processes and drive our massive suite of inventory data to concise information that all teams can act on to push Micron to be best in class. You will have common objectives in many aspects of inventory management and specifically you will have responsibilities in driving projects and programs to maintain our days of inventory outstanding (DIO) at target, collaborate on the development and reporting applications, coordinating the quarterly financial reserves process from the global supply chain perspective, managing ongoing improvements in current and future inventory disposition systems, and development and refinement of our rules and their usage in inventory management. Much of your time will be spent proactively managing relationships across all operations, product engineering and business unit entities worldwide to understand strategic and tactical issues and associated KPI’s, and how Inventory Management can best serve our customers.
You must have excellent skills related to data analysis and developing conclusions to complex problems. You must also have strong communication skills and leadership abilities as these will make you successful in resolving many of the problems you find to meet the defined objectives.
You will be expected to develop a holistic understanding of all inventory management and related business processes at Micron.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Inventory Management systems
Become a subject matter expert (SME) on all aspects of assigned current and future inventory reporting solutions and disposition systems
Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to understand requirements of assigned inventory management reporting
Engage with users as issues arise and be a resource to drive tactical and strategic solutions including automation
Days of Inventory Outstanding
Engage on DIO actions to develop and drive strategic business processes and innovation to continuously manage and achieve DIO targets
Collaborate with PE, BE and Central organizations to work through assigned issues as necessary
Understand Non Nettable, APO Non-Relevant and Aged material generation and work with Operations, Product Engineering, and Central Organizations to drive processes and programs to minimize
Tactically assist in disposition actions when called upon
Advanced Planning Optimization and Inventory Rules
Build expertise in our Advanced Planning and Optimization data system as it relates to categorization of inventory throughout the mfg process
Work to become a subject matter expert in inventory postponement locations and collaborate on rules for usage and material disposition including business process development
Drive attribute-based inventory segmentation to a minimum and collaborate to build automated solutions to enable merging and fast disposition
Reserves
Collaborate for regularly scheduled inputs from all sites and develop reporting solutions to understand potential excess inventory
Facilitate regularly scheduled reviews with all relevant1 entities to bring visibility and understand consumption of excess planning, and identify and track strategic actions to minimize potential reserve write downs
Develop and coordinate development of automated solutions to give clarity to performance and actions necessary to minimize reserve write down
Automate the compilation of data and statistics on reserves seen and drive improvements to reduce potential on a go forward basis
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or higher required
Industrial Engineering or Operations Research
Engineering – Manufacturing
