1. Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
The position exists within the Ice Cream regional center based in Shanghai. The main job purpose of this job is to provide a strong experimental base for formulation work and product design.
The job holder will be responsible for the planning and execution of lab based and pilot plant experiments within the ice cream R&D programme. The job will involve the use of a wide range of specialist equipment involved with the production and characterisation of ice cream. The job holder will develop an in-depth knowledge of both formulation of ice cream and use this understanding to develop novel and innovative products. The experiments will need to be conducted with care and rigour and the acquisition, interpretation and reporting of the data will be the responsibility of the job holder.
2. MAIN DUTIES OF JOB
a) Support to Innovation and F4G project.
· Leading or assisting to create novel and innovative product concepts
· Leading or assisting to select raw material and supplier according to Ice Cream quality requirement
· Analytical approach to data interpretation to achieve logical conclusions/recommendations
· Rigorous experimentation to ensure that clear recommendations and conclusions can be made
· Work with team to deliver the overall R&D programme to drive growth
· Keen to run optimisation processes
· Passion and drive to solve challenging technical issues
· Excellent team working skills
· Assist TPL’s to make ice cream prototypes and/or make independently prototypes for TPL’s
Creative and solving problem logically
Deliver Technical specifications in line with business requirements (including full product and third party specifications, label data sheets and technical information for all products);
Conduct evaluation of competitor products and feed results back to the business
Comply with the Unilever Code of Business Principles and all SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) and QA policies, including the support of product claims and risk management.
b) Office work
· Fully operate Internal systems to help the product development process
· Team support when necessary
2. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Essential - A Degree in food technology or related discipline.
2-3 years working experience in FMCG is preferred. Good working knowledge of Food manufacturing industry. Better to understand cocoa related knowledge.
General skills:
· The job holder need basic knowledge of formulation development
· The job holder has good sense in time management of multi task.
· The job holder needs to be a good communicator in Chinese and English both written and spoken.
· The job holder needs to have good PC skills
