Overall Description:
The Intern will work closely with the other team members in the Safeguarding and Inclusion Division to support schools in the area of child protection, social and emotional counselling and student support. The Intern will be mentored by the Head of Inclusion / Designated Safeguarding Lead for YCYW Schools, and will receive additional support from the Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer. The intern will be expected to fully commit to the training provided, and will be expected to contribute to the work of our division in supporting schools, participating in safeguarding audits, helping with training and attending meetings with schools.

Key Responsibilities:
61 Support the division in ensuring safeguarding and inclusion is embedded in the school' s ethos, promoting a culture where all staff are confident in recognising and responding to potential concerns
61 Contribute to the development, implementation and review of Safeguarding, Child Protection and Inclusion policies and procedures
61 Help to enhance the knowledge of safeguarding and inclusion protocols among all Chinese staff members
61 Support the division with ensuring consistent safeguarding and inclusion across all schools
61 Support the division with ongoing professional development in safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion including facilitating workshops and training sessions in Chinese
61 Support with the implementation of specified programmes and curriculum frameworks, including but not limited to the YCYW Wellness Framework, YCYW Life Skills and Wellness Curriculum and the YCYW Peer Mentorship Programme
61 Collaborate with non-academic divisions to promote and support safeguarding, child protection and inclusion programmes
61 Maintain effective communication with the Head of Inclusion / DSL, Head of Safeguarding and Inclusion Division and the Safeguarding and Inclusion Officer
61 Utilise school-based data to identify trends, needs and areas for improvement in safeguarding and inclusion practices
61 Participate in safeguarding audits across YCYW schools
61 Support with parent education initiatives in YCYW schools
61 Attend and participate in Safeguarding and Inclusion Division meetings
61 Carry out any other duties assigned by the Head of Inclusion and Designated Safeguarding Lead for YCYW Schools
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
61 Initial undergraduate degree and currently enrolled as a master’s degree student
61 Knowledge of current best practices in social-emotional learning, mental health, child protection and inclusive education
61 Bilingual communication skills with native level Chinese and strong English language skills
61 Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
61 Commitment to ongoing training and professional development
61 Demonstrate data analysis and research capabilities
61 Willingness to participate in workshops and training sessions for various audiences, including students, educators, leaders and parents
61 Experience with online training platforms, e-bulletins and professional networking related to safeguarding and inclusion
61 Willing to regularly travel to schools within Mainland China
61 Commitment to the holistic education of young people
