Teaching Assistant (Elementary and Early Childhood)
Position Description:
The Teaching Assistant (TA) supports the work of teachers and school both inside and outside of the classroom with tasks and responsibilities that promote student learning (academic, social-emotional, and physical, behavioral) and school functions. The TA is hired primarily to support students, and secondarily to conduct clerical or other school functioning tasks. During the school’s start-up phase, TAs will be directed by classroom teachers, and evaluated by the Director through cumulative feedback from the classroom teachers as well as direct observations of performance. The TA will need to have the flexibility to work with students from 3-years-old to grade 8.
Responsibilities:
61 Assist teachers with planning and preparation of lessons, projects and experiments
61 Assist teachers in leveraging Chinese language and culture with families and in the classroom, including but not limited to, translation
61 Assist teachers in facilitating classroom activities such as small group instruction, station work, and cooperative learning experiences
61 Maintain routines and use positive and collaborative approaches to student behavior management, effectively approaching student misbehaviors as learning opportunities and following the school behavior policy
61 Assist with student interventions (academic, social-emotional, behavioral) as directed by lead teacher
61 Ensure approach with students reflects and supports multiple forms of diversity and is responsive to a diverse learning community
61 Assist with student assessments and recording of assessment data
61 Follow direction from teachers while being proactive in TA role
61 Maintain confidentiality and school fidelity in all communication with other employees, parents, and outside persons; refer sensitive communications to teacher or school administration
61 Act as a substitute teacher when teachers take leave (both planned and unplanned) or due to any immigration delays
61 Attend all assigned meetings and professional development sessions
61 Plan and teach after school classes and holiday camps, maintaining responsibility for student success through adequate behavior management and high expectations
61 Monitor and assist students on playgrounds, lunches, and other assigned duty times
61 Assist before, during, and after school functions
61 Assist overseas staff with navigating everyday life in Shantou at times when they are unable to proceed independently due to the language barrier
61 Maintain open and proactive communication with other school staff
61 Assist in arranging field trips and special events that enhance the curricular program
61 Support the development of strong, positive relationships with GTIIT University through collaboration with other departments and personnel as needed
61 Maintain classroom supplies, school libraries, and play equipment
61 Perform other duties as required
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, or working toward degree
2. Excellent communication skills, including strong English skills
3. The ability to work with people from a variety of nationalities
4. Experience working in a school or kindergarten setting

61 在遵循教师指导的同时,积极主动地履行教学助理职责
61 在与其他员工、家长及外部人员沟通时保持保密性和对学校的忠诚;将敏感信息转交教师或学校管理层处理
61 在教师请假(计划内或突发)或因签证延误时担任代课教师
61 参加所有指定的会议和专业发展培训
61 负责策划和教授课后课程及假期营,确保通过良好的行为管理和高期望实现学生的成功
61 在操场、午餐时间及其他指定时段监督并协助学生
61 协助学校举办课前、课中和课后的活动
61 在外籍员工因语言障碍无法独立处理日常事务时提供协助
61 与学校其他员工保持开放、积极的沟通
61 协助安排实地考察和有助于课程的特别活动
61 通过与其他部门和人员的合作,支持与广东以色列理工学院(GTIIT)建立积极关系
61 维护教室用品、学校图书馆和游戏设备
61 完成其他分配的任务
优先考虑的资格条件:
1.教育或相关专业的学士学位,或正在攻读学位
2.出色的沟通能力,包括良好的英语能力
3.能够与来自不同国家的人合作
4.有学校或幼儿园工作经验者优先
