Qualifications:
61 School Teaching and/or Counseling Certification/Qualifications
61 Master’s degree
61 Secondary School Experience (International School College Counseling experience preferred)
61 Strong interest to help others and the ability to inspire respect, trust, and confidence
61 Ability to work independently and lead a team of UGC.
Interfaces with:
61 Director of Schools, campus administration, High School Faculty and Staff, school Counselors, parents, students, university representatives and admission offices.
JOB GOAL:
61 To design and implement a counseling program that meets the developmental, emotional, social and academic requirements of upper school, and to assist students in appropriate academic and career goal setting, to provide students and parents with information on college/university admissions requirements, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities, and to inform and advise students and parents on the college application process.
61 Working with the academic team, identify and help talent students to apply to US Top 30 and UK G5 universities.
61 Develop and implement a comprehensive college guidance program for grades 9- 12, including students extra curriculum activities and related background enrichment plan.
61 Maintain appropriate data bases and information systems to streamline the dissemination of info relevant to college selection and admission process
61 Counsel seniors and parents regarding the college admissions process, and assist with this as needed
61 Arrange for visits of college representatives and organize fairs
61 Conduct informative sessions for juniors and seniors and their parents on post graduate opportunities
61 Facilitate student and parent meetings relevant to college selection and admission process
61 Coordinate and process supporting documentation necessary for the university application process, including transcript review and student recommendations
61 Meet application deadlines
61 Provide career search materials, and easy access to career and college publications
61 Provide students with up to date resources/tools to assist with university search
61 Provide required input for School Profile
61 Maintain student/counseling records and correspondence relevant to college guidance/admission
61 Coordinate and administer the PSAT, SAT, ACT, TOEFL,IGCSE, A Level, AP, IB, PRAXIS. GMAT, and GRE exams, and any others deemed necessary
61 Maintain current standardized test preparation resources
61 Perform appropriate duties as Advanced Placement Coordinator (if necessary)
61 Counsel students on course selection appropriate to demands of higher education
61 Establish relationships and network with other professionals in the field
